On 1 December 2009 a church was formed from a small group of people that had a passion to influence a city. The city is Gloucester and the church, D7 Church. Due to limited finances, D7 Church was unable to purchase a CCLI licence so decided to write their own songs for church worship. After several months D7 Church also realised that their financial situation was not improving despite the growth in attendance. Homeless people, unemployed people, young people and various other sorts of interesting Gloucester people found a welcoming place that accepted them for who they were and loved them no matter what. Lives were being changed, addictions broken and people finding hope again. This atmosphere quickly grew a lovely church but of course as the need amongst the people grew the finances did not. This lead the leadership of D7 Church to yet another fantastic creative decision! In order to keep going as a church but reduce expenses they decided to take church to the streets of Gloucester. Every second Sunday D7 Church met in the city square, King's Square or the city park, Gloucester Park. Rain or shine D7 Church pitched up with their home made stage, limited sound gear and great enthusiasm. Each Sunday was amazing and people grew to love the home grown songs performed by D7 Band. After several requests for a CD by the public, D7 band quickly realised that the next step of faith they needed to take was to record their music. An appointment was made with a recording studio and three weeks later and several thousand miraculous pounds later, the album named after Gloucester's city square, King's Square, was released! It's incredible to see what can result from a small group of people with a little creativity, a pinch of faith for finances and a passion for the gospel!
